Frequently asked questions

What are the best free trading tools?

The ones that save you a calculation you would otherwise do by hand or get wrong, and that show their source. Start with a lot size calculator, because sizing the position is where many accounts go wrong, and add the market hours and the economic calendar. Every tool on this page is free, with no sign-up and no ads.

What tools do I need to start forex trading?

A charting platform (we work in MetaTrader), a way to size each position and a clock that tells you when the candles close. The lot size calculator and the forex market hours give you the last two. The other tools here help you decide what to look at.

Which forex calculator should I use first as a beginner?

The lot size calculator. Before you ask where the price is going, you need to know how much you lose if you're wrong, and that's what it tells you.

What forex calculators do I need for trading?

The lot size calculator is the one you need on every trade, and it comes with a pip value table. The compound interest calculator is for the long view: it shows what your savings will be worth in today's money.

Are these forex tools free?

Yes. They are free, they need no sign-up and they have no ads.

Do I need to download or install anything?

No. They run in your browser, on your phone or your computer. They don't use cookies, and what you type stays on your device.

Where does the data come from?

From official sources, and every page names its source and the date of its data: central banks, statistics offices and the World Bank, depending on the tool. The exception is our own model, of which we only publish the result for each currency or pair, never how it's built.
